You know...after reading all these comments it made me quite disappointed in the youth(and some of their parents) of this generation. Thank you to those who used words to compliment rather than to degrade, belittle and attack management. I know this is a "free" forum where an individual is allowed to speak his/her mind but to read some of these reviews made me sick to my stomach. I am not a member of your church, but I always believed Mormons were a kind and loving people. I get a different view now. Liberty Square bends over backwards to help the resident at every moment! They have weekly hot dog parties, movie nights, dances, basketball and volleyball tournaments, free fitness room, pool, indoor basketball court just to name a few. It's a ton of fun! But as with most things in life...you get out of it what you put in. You know, life isn't perfect. No one living or attending BYU as far as I know isn't perfect although I'm starting to wonder if secretly many people believe they are. Liberty Square isn't the Marriot or Hilton, it's student housing. The apartments are lived in year round. They are well-maintained and managed. I know they do their best to keep the apartments clean, maintained and they create a great environment conducive to learning and higher learning. Complainers will always find the negative in circumstances. Don't be one of them! As far as this internet concern everyone has...try doing something constructive other than surfing the internet all day long. Go for walks and socialize. I believe management tries their best in maintaining such a complex wi-fi system. Maybe they could use some positive feedback instead of all this "crap" I've been reading. I love liberty square! It has been a great experience for me and my roommates. I hope others will be less critical and thankful to the people who make it happen every day! I rented from fall '08 through winter '09. ...

I had a great time in the ward, enjoyed the quality of the apartment, loved my roommates (except one), wasn't a big fan of all the fees, but overall liked living at liberty square. Management tried to nickle and dime us for everything (bike permits, car permits, cleaning rechecks, etc. Internet was terrible while I lived there, but maybe they have upgraded it. I loved living here except for the management. The rent was a different price every month because of "miscellaneous fees." Not to mention at the final checkout when they failed EVERYONE for the cleaning check to not give money back from the deposit. Liberty Square is a fun place to live, especially during the spring & summer semesters. They put on hot dog fridays EVERY single Friday and they do lots of activities and free movie nights at the CINEMARK! Poor students like me can definitely appreciate that! The only thing that could possibly use some improvement would be the internet. Then again, college students live on the computer and i don't know if any internet could suffice all the time, but it works on and off depending on the time of day, etc. Overall, though, i've enjoyed my experience here and am trying to get a Fall/Winter spot (they're hard to get though!) I really enjoy living at Liberty Square. I have never had problem with interent or management. This week management is taking us to the new Harry Potter movie opening night. Internet and Management ruin the place. They promised to be upgrading the internet but really just waved a stick over the existing internet and said all way better. It on some days is slow as dial up and even on good days it is incredibly inconsistent and spikes very badly (and frequently). When you try to inform management that there might be a problem with the internet, they assume it is because you are lying and tell you that everything is fine without actually checking. If you persist, they stop responding at all and just pretend you don't live there. Their solution to a problem is to pretend it isn't there. Worst case for them...you move and somebody immediately takes your spot. Stay away if you want to do anything other than check e-mail once a week. Stay further away if you want to be treated as an adult tenant in a contract rather than a child hoping for a handout. This apartment complex is unacceptable. They are holding on to their name and reputation that is long since worn out. There was no central air, so the summer is miserable. our heater was broken for all of November. Putting 3 people in a room is against the law in a majority of the United States...but of course this complex is not above that. I failed my cleaning check twice because I was in the shower. It was a serious dump. No personal space. Ghetto fixtures and appliances. My closet was in the living room with a linen curtain covering my clothes. The layout was awful. The people are mostly superficial clones of each other and I was turned off by the rampant attitude of self-righteousness. For those of you who served your mission in Zimbabwe, beware that the standard of living at Liberty Square is slightly below what you're used to. If you want to hate me for being superficial, just remember that we're not on ratemyapartment-tenants-spirituality.com. here is the breakdown of the girls. 1/10 is cute. 4/10 are average. 5/10 are not either of those. If you are a cute girl with a fun personality, go live somewhere else. If you are a guy looking for a cute girl...take the same advice. Our ward was also paired with the girls from the Crown Apartments...Lord have mercy. worst experience ever. stay away from both of these places. Take some advice, invest an extra 100/month and move into a nice place with decent people who take care of themselves and who are ambitious goal-setters with high standards and who expect more out of life. Our apartment was 3 to a room with 6 people total and only 2 bathrooms. Plus, the "dishwasher" was the kind you roll up to the sink but it was broken so it never worked anyways. I would expect better living conditions in hell. Management was horrible and they charged way too much for the apartment we had. The only thing that kept me sane in such conditions were my roommates. Liberty Square is an interesting place. They are hardly the worst apartments in Provo -- the landlord is reasonably responsive, the apartments are fairly well kept up. They are, however, unquestionably the most overpriced apartments in Provo. You do not get what you pay for with Liberty, you get less. If you are planning to live at Liberty Square, and your parents are not paying for your housing, please be aware of the following additional fees you will be paying: Note: These are for Fall/Winter 2008. They're likely higher for 2009. Parking: $44 for above-ground and $88 for below ground. Cleaning Checks: If you can get through all your cleaning checks without failing one, I'd be amazed. I am a meticulous clean-freak, so I only failed 1 cleaning check. Unfortunately it was my last one. $5 recheck fee ($15 at checkout) $35/hr to have it cleaned if you fail recheck. 1 hour minimum. Utilities: Utility prices fluctuate. Some apartments let you pay for what you actually use. Liberty Square takes a more communistic approach, averaging everybody's utility costs together, adding a little on top for themselves "just to be safe" and then charging you $30 a month. ($20 in summer I hear). If you like to take very very very long hot showers, run your heat all the time, leave your lights on, and just otherwise waste electricity...this is probably a bargain for you. Otherwise, you could probably do better living in a different apartment and paying your actual utilities rate. Credit Card Processing: If you ever pay for anything by Visa or Master Card (They don't take American Express) -- expect to have a 3% fee added to your bill. This is fair, they do have to pay the processing fees, but just be aware. Don't leave for Liberty Square without your checkbook! Carpet Cleaning: Most every place charges for your carpet cleaning, that's fine. Liberty Square will charge you $20 for your 8-month contract. Laundry: They have coin-op laundry on site. It's $1 to wash and ¢50 minimum to dry. If you know somebody else with a washer and dryer, you can do your laundry at their place, but don't forget to calculate your gas costs. In the end, after I added up all the hidden fees, I figured out that my "$314/month" apartment was a lot closer to $375 per month. $375 a month is quite a lot of money, and you can get into a much nicer and larger apartment than Liberty Square for that kind of money. Hot Dog Fridays, free t-shirts at check-in, and candy at the front desk..."there ain't so such thing as a free lunch" and it's your rent that's paying for all that. In fact, that's what I've done. Armed with a little more time to research, I found a place closer to campus, bigger, with a washer and dryer in the unit. The cost? Well it's tough to know for sure, since I don't know /exactly/ what Utilities will run -- but even by my pessimistic calculatons put it at nearly $40 a month cheaper than Liberty Square. Last word about the management: The front office staff were nice, but I was never impressed by them. I am an adult in a business transaction with the apartment, to provide me a place to live. I was treated like a child in school. They left us notes and notices all the time about things residents were doing that bothered them. Little notes with comic sans font printed in full color -- another thing my rent dollars paid for. I thought this was common-place at these off-campus apartments, until I talked to my friends and found out that pretty much our management was just totally OCD. Choose Liberty? I did and I regret it. Next year I'm off to live in a place where I'm treated by an adult by managers and owners who are not out to make a quick buck off rich California parents sending their kids to BYU. So, I live at Liberty Square right now! I think that it is a really super fun place to live. Since I signed for a year contract, I got a really good deal on my rent, which is much appreciated on my budget. Since there are so many different apartments all on the same property, you get to meet a lot of different people, my friends have seriously doubled since I moved in. Not to mention, there are lots of attractive returned missionaries! So, also they have this really nice workout room, a laundry facility and a swimming pool, so you don't even need to ever leave the complex! I personally love living here. I have overheard other resident complaining about verious issues here, and just want to say, it's sad when someone complains basically when they do not get their way. example a friend was complaining about their car being broken into, but they left their ipod and purse in plain view....why is this the fault of management? Every time I have dealt with management I have been treated well. I just wanted to comment about the things I have heard from people around me. I think living at liberty square is what you make of it. If you're looking to have a good time, you'll LOVE it. If you're looking for problems, you'll find them just like at any apartment complex here in provo. Overall, i've enjoyed my experience here at liberty square. Management's been nice and accomodating. Some people have had issues only because they didn't pay rent on time and then were surprised to get a late fee. Maintenance was handled promptly and the social life is fun, especially if you're a sophomore. Advice? Quality 3 - Apartments are fairly recently remodeled and, for the most part, don't have any permanent odd smells or anything like that.brbrParking 4 - Underground, reserved parking.brbrLocation 4 - 8 minutes to BNSN or MARB.brbrSocial 3 - Your ward is your building, so you see most the people in your ward all the time. brbrService 3 - They've been quick to respond to maintenance requests.brbrOther The workout room is nice. 5 Ellipticals, 2 Treadmills, 1 Bike, Selectorized Weights, and 2 LCD TVs. Cleaning checks monthly. By following their guidelines, I've never failed one. I've put in rent a day or 2 late once or twice and they've been reasonable to work with. brbrPrice $314$30 a month, it's a bit more than, say, Glenwood, but it's also in a lot better shape than Glenwood. Quality 3 - I am in a LaFayette Same as Mansion and Jamestown 4-person. The 4-person apartments are more expensive than the 6-person ones, but they are laid out stupidly. Compared to the 6-person apartments, your kitchen is significantly larger, but your living room and bedrooms are tiny. Among the smaller bedrooms I've seen. brbrParking 4 - $88 for a parking pass, I stood in line for 3 hours to buy it on checkin day. This effectively adds $11month to my rent. The stalls are tiny, but that seems to be the case with all these places. brbrLocation 4 - 8 minutes to BNSN is good, but there are closer places. brbrSocial 3 - Liberty Square has a reputation for an amazing social life, but I'd rate it as just average. brbrService 3 - Our internet crawled for months before they did anything about it, and it's still only average-fast. Management is not professional at all, and they leave whiney notes on our door a couple times a month. I haven't seen any other complex leave so many notes trying to micromanage residents. brbrOther Internet is passable, but if that's really crucial to you, look elsewhere.brbrPrice I would say the Square is not overpriced, but it's not good value. At $114$30 utilities, it's a bit more expensive than, say, Glenwood, but it's in much better shape. However, I had time to do more research in selecting an apartment for next year. There are a plethora of larger, nicer places to live for about the same, or $5-$10 more a month. brbrWas Liberty square awful? No. Am I living there again? No. Would I recommend others live there? The management fixes things when you submit a request, but they are not very good otherwise. Once someone parked in my personal parking spot (which I paid for) and all they said was park on the street so I ended up in 2 feet of snow! Some times it's hard to get out of the underground parking in the snow. This place is full of Sophmores and return missionaries, so I wouldn't suggest that anybody else live there. The pool has been closed down for maintinance almost the entire time I've been here. It's only social if you are. You can't move in and expect to be a social animal, you have to actually want to go out and meet people. And sometimes you lose your room mate by living here.... mine's getting married! The management is very poor. They are not professional. I wouldn't suggest living here to anybody. The greatest thing about the place is the proximity to BYU campus. The pool is never open, the parking stalls are extremely small. They are always booting people, and parties are basically outlawed from the place. I would not recommend Liberty Square. It was a pretty average apartment complex. Nice apartments, rooms were a bit small but liveable. Definitely a great place for fresh/soph girls and newly returned missionaries. Management was difficult to work with at times. Parking was an issue. The ward I was in was friendly and welcoming although they didn't do much together outside of church and FHE. My son lived at Liberty Square for one year. Social life was so-so, the girls don't go out of their way to visit the guys. The management is belligerent and doesn't really care as long as they get their money. They love to nickel and dime residents with unnecessary "fees." Location is good, parking is tight.
