The whole building is damp and moldy, think ambient mildew scented. The staff will sweet talk you out of the office and then do nothing they said they were going to. The property manager is just plain rude. We had fleas for two months, a moving in
present from cev. The property manager told us not to be impatient and that the bug guy comes every Tuesday... We reported the fleas two months before this incident and had made multiple work orders, emails, and in person visits about the fleas.

The District Apartments are not about their residents, as their slogan says. They are more about ripping you off in every way possible. The new additions (spa, tanning, pool, gym) are all necessary for the residents to sleep easy with as much as they
spend on rent.
I lived in a 4-bedroom apartment. Each of us had our own bedroom and bathroom and we shared a small kitchen and living area. We had major issues with mold in our apartment. Behind one wall we found an actual MUSHROOM growing out of the carpet. The Districts quick fix? "Paint Over It!" The bathroom ceiling was leaking on an almost regular basis while school was still in session, every time the people upstairs used their bathroom. Again, the solution was to "Paint Over It!"
Our front door stopped working on several occasions. After making it home from work after the snow storm in February at about 1am I was locked out because my key would not work. My roommates were snowed in at their boyfriend's places. The two kids who came to help me get into my apartment showed up carrying beers. Wonderful.
I would not recommend The District to anyone I know. The only reason I had resigned my lease was because I liked the girls I was living with. We all called to make complaints during our last year and received very little help. When it comes to money, they want to make it, not to spend it.
I rented from summer '08 through summer 10.

Pool, Weight room, free food every once and a while, and tanning beds. Overall, it beats the hell out of a dorm.
I rented from fall '08 through fall '09.
