I really wanted to live here becuase of the unique layouts and the large windows...but when I called to set up a time to check out the apartments the woman I spoke with didn't seem to want me to look at them. She was flippant and abrasive in her answers to my inquiries; this isn't management I would want to deal with on a regular basis, and that is only the beginning... Here are three ratings from current tenants of the Knitting Lofts (which I found on apartmentratings.com) We were excited to move in, the apartments were impressive. However, just behind the apartments is a metal crushing facility that works through the night and on weekends. When we had our windows open it was hard to hear anything and it made the apartment really dusty. Plus, when we asked the manager about the noise she said it wasn't a problem because the crushing facility had "normal business hours". The first week we moved in there were several tenants who told us we were crazy for living there and they were moving out because they didn't feel safe. We had four managers in one year, a woman was beat up in her apartment, people sold drugs at the front door, and our neighbor's second hand smoke seeped into our apartment where the cheap wall met the ceiling. When we told management about the smoke they sent a mantainence guy out who said it wasn't possible that it was leaking into our apartment. Nice. It is true that these apartments are beautiful, but the management has changed about 4 times since I have moved in a year and a half ago. We moved in when Gorman managed the property. One of the reasons we chose here was the people in the office. Now we have new management, and they are terrible. They are never available to speak with. Your maintence requests are never solved. We have had a maintence issue since July... it is now February and we continue to get the run around.. Again, if you want a beautiful apartment with crummy management with your needs ignored, then this is the place for you... I don't know many people that would sacrifice this. The building is gorgeous and the layout of the apartments is huge and unique. It has amenities, but good luck using them. The gym is used by residents, not to work-out, but to sit on the equiptment and watch tv. There are tons of ghetto people who live here, running around at all hours, selling drugs on the property, getting in fights, and working on crappy cars in the parking lot. Nobody parks in the correct spots and the parking lot never gets plowed in the winter. Also, someone was stabbed at the front door and nothing was done about it. I used to love my apartment and my building, but now it is dirty and unsafe. And the office staff just doesn't seem to care... about anything. Hope this helps! ...
