Management was very unprofessional. On-site property manager failed to mention important information with regards to utility charges(tenants are responsible for setting up their own utility accounts with the city and collecting money from roommates).
Upon signing my lease I was told by management that utilities were included in the rent. I was also not informed that monthly cleaning checks are regularly conducted and failure to meet management's expectations will result in a $50.00 fee. While the cleaning checks are not unreasonable, tenants are not supplied with brooms, vacuums, sponges, mops, or even rags. Initially these small inconveniences seemed trivial due to the fantastic location and fair pricing, however towards the end of my lease the manager decided not to refund my security deposit due to an alleged violation of the lease agreement. When I went to speak with the manager, I was appalled by his unprofessionalism. He answered his cell phone twice during our conversation and dealt with two different walk in appointments. When I finally had a chance to speak with him, uninterrupted, he admitted to me that while I hadn't technically violated the lease agreement, he felt that he and the firm he represented would be immune to any legal repercussions in the event that I decided to take that route. At that point he stated that he had an appointment to get to and that he didn't want to spend any more of his time on a "sealed issue". On my way out the door he chuckled to himself and said to me "good luck in small claims court".
I rented from winter 2016 through spring 2016.
