The rent would have been well over five hundred but my wife worked for a company that had cut a deal with the property. Despite the rebate, it just wasn't worth it. It is a primarily student community with alot of people using the Texas Tech bus service for transportation to and from campus (important since fuel is almost $3 and this is the far west end of town). Tech approached each complex on the route with bus stops to pay a fee. Meridian Park refused and allowed the stop to be cancelled. The fee Tech asked for was a drop in the complex's expense budget. Despite this and the fact that so many of their residents used the service, the complex dropped it. There used to be pet excriment everywhere, but they put out bag despensers in designated areas. That helped but was one of the few things the complex was ever proactive about. Outside of that they do nothing about barking dogs, even when there are many many people complaining about the same animal. They are so weak on that they though they could have, by their own admission, force the owners to remove the dog or evict them, they did nothing. A month later, nothing has been done. They even let the owners add a second dog! Predicatably, this dog barks as constantly as well! This isn't an unsafe area, but their are break ins. West Lubbock is not what it was a few years ago. The redevelopement of natorious North Overton has pushed alot of the crime elsewhere in the city. Despite this, the adverstised security is nowhere to be seen. There are cars occasionally broken in to and one was even stolen. The rent is not competative. There has been a boom in apartment construction over the last few years in Lubbock. There are new and better managed complexes with better student cultures throughout the town, and in this area as well. Because of this a good rate is not hard to find. I went on a bad recommendation and found myself here. The guy who recommended this place to me is moving out and has since retracted his recommendation. You can do better for yourself elsewhere. The maintaince staff is great, but the office is incompetent. Getting them to deploy the mainataince staff has been a problem for several people. One person could not get the office to send them to repair their front door for a week. Horrificially this was after a burglary in which the criminals kicked the door in. You would think that would have been a priority to get this person behind a safe and locking door, but the management dropped the ball. They are really all over the place. They organize sparsley attended activities, but can't deal with a nusance dog. They are friendly and seemingly open, but pass the blame on the cancellation of the bus service. They opted out, but won't admit it. It's just not worth it to live here. You have alot of options in this town, this just isn't a good one. Don't make the same mistake I did. I rented from summer '06 through fall '08. ...
