An experience I dont want to repeat From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 10/23/2006 Years at this apartment: 2005-2006 This apartment was my second rental property in Murfreesboro, and definitely the worse in experience and environment. Rude staff, bug problems, and amenities were the main reasons for the unpleasant atmosphere. Read below for details: 1. Apartment management and staff are increasingly unwilling to help, sometimes to the point of rudeness. 2. Apartment quarters are old, dirty, and falling apart. I called monthly to get something fixed. Because the apartments are so old, no amount of paint/wallpaper/rugs/cle will make them look livable. 3. Management and staff made it extremely hard to move out (I was out of my lease and doing month to month). More fees and extra months were added on to the rent, even after I gave official written notice of vacating the premises. When discussing with staff and management, I was lied to about many different aspects of how to go about moving, paperwork to fill out, and what I needed to pay. This resulted in more fees, more time, and definite hardships. 4. They tend to squeeze every cent out that they can. I left the apartment spotless (the lady checking the apartment after my stuff was out said the place never looked cleaner, that I should get full deposit back). However, I only received half the deposit back (after a month and a half of leaving) and still trying to get an answer out of staff as to why. (My other apartment rental in Murfreesboro gave me full deposit back within week of vacating) 5. Lower income people moving in, making the place more of a college dorm/melting pot instead of a quiet environment for working professionals. 6. Amenities are lacking, at best. Basketball goal no longer has a hoop and area is grown up with weeds and such. Swimming pool is no bigger than a kiddie pool and often overrun with kids that aren't supervised. Parking is often crowded with some people choosing to park on their own front lawns (right beside their door) rather than walking from the next parking lot over. 7. Maintenance tends to harm more than repair. I had to call monthly to get things fixed and found myself calling repeatedly to get same thing fixed, because the job was not done correctly the first time. 8. One thing that never got fixed (despite numerous phone calls) was the weather stripping on the bottom of the outside door. This resulted in bugs, ants, spiders, etc being able to crawl under the door and into the apartment, since it was on the ground level. Also, during times of flooding (which being near the river, happened frequently) water would run in from under the door. 9. I had to bug bomb the apartment regularly because of invasive spiders. I am not sure if they crawled under the doorway, but no amount of bombing and "pest control" from the apartment would get rid of them. They ranged in size from a quarter to fist. 10. The apartment supplied cable and water free. However, if the renter had to pay for either they would not want to pay for long. Water ran out of the tap at orangish color for the first few seconds (rusty pipes?). It also left an orange residue at the bottom of shower and around all drains. Cable would come and go sporadically. I thought it was my cord to the tv, but after purchasing 3rd one decided it was the connector in the wall. This did not get fixed either. Even though this apartment was cheaper and came with washer and dryer, I wish I had spent a little more in rent each month to have a better living arrangement experience. I rented from spring '05 through summer '06. ...
