I am writing to describe my experience at Wyndchase Bellevue apartments. I have been a resident for 3 years and have a lot experiences with the complex. When I first moved I had heard many great things from a lot of different people about the complex. When I moved in there was a change in the management of the property shortly after and since then I have been dissatisfied. My first bad experience was when they removed the gas grills from the property, except by the office. Being health conscious and a full-time employee it was extremely nice to be able to get home and cook some chicken on the grill without having to worry about setting up for charcoal. I specifically chose my apartments locations based on the closeness of the amenities. My second bad experience was concerning a leakage from the bath tub rim when I took a shower. The provided solution was a plastic water stopper that prevented me from entering the shower safely. I would get my foot caught every time. So instead I re-caulked the whole tub and the problem was fixed. My third bad experience was when I decided to move apartments. Upon moving out I called about a spot in the laundry room where my washer had torn a small hole in the vinyl floor. I asked whether or not if it needed to be fixed. Management informed that I shouldn't worry about it since it was probably due for replacement since it was turning yellow. After I move into my new apartment I was made aware that I would be responsible for replacing vinyl floor in the kitchen/laundry room and bathroom, so they could match. Since my friend moved into that apartment she told me the reason she wanted it removed was because it looked yellow not because of the hole that would be covered up. I talked with management informing them of my previous conversation and I felt like they were trying to have me pay and were using the hole as an excuse. So I paid ~$300, since I felt partial responsible, due to the hole, but I also felt like I was being taken advantage of. My fourth bad experience was once I moved into my apartment in the spring I started to notice an odor emitting from the A/C unit. It smelled like rotten eggs. I informed management, maintenance and they were trying to figure out a solution. Management came down to evaluate the odor themselves. Unfortunately they could not smell it, unlike my family, friends, and fiancΓ© had observed on many occasions. Finally it became fall and I turned off my A/C unit and the odor was no longer a problem. My fifth bad experience was the pool became locked for repairs during the biggest summer holidays of the year. I can recount specifically two times when it is American to chill out by the pool on these days and it was closed. I do understand certain things have to be done for maintenance; however, poor planning resulted in numerous residents being severely angry. My sixth bad experience was this past winter when the pool was chain locked to prevent people from entering at anytime. I do not know the reason nor was there ever a reason posted or sent out informing why. My belief is that people were socializing past 10 O'clock, pool closing time and the pool was locked to prevent this socialization. A more appropriate solution would have been to maybe lock the gates at that time so residents could still enjoy the amenities throughout the day. My seventh and last experience happened when I went to inform management that I would not be resigning my lease. My reason for not resigning was because it was cheaper to buy a condo in the same area that had two bedrooms and bathrooms, compared to my one bed room and bathroom. The condos also have the same types of amenities so there isn't that big of a deal among the two. I went to the office during the first two days of the month, which was the day I was required to submit in writing, informing them that I would not be resigning. They informed me that I would need to submit in writing. So on the 9th of that month I sent an email to management. A week later I followed up to make sure they received it. They did not so I resent it. Later that month I received a letter stating that I didn't give the full 60 day notice in writing and that I would be responsible for paying until my 60 day notice was fulfilled. I went straight to management and told them that I made the effort and that being a resident of 3 years that I once again felt like I was being taken advantage of. I read my contract and I understand I was required to have submitted by that certain day. I provided proof of the email I had sent on the 9th and they agreed to hold me to the contract until then. However I felt like I was making an attempt at the beginning of the month and that it should have been considered. Also in the past the management has sent out letters informing residents of when they need to resign or give notice. In this case I never received such information at anytime. I believe that if a business changes policies or actions then as a resident it would be nice to know these changes so as a resident we could make the appropriate changes. Now you may be wondering why I was a resident of 3 years, even though I had so many problems. My explanation is because of my neighbors. If it wasn't for them I would have left after my first year. The people I have met have become my best friends. I have been at and in their weddings. I have met their families and spent numerous hours hanging out. Some of the listed problems have restricted this relationship building. This amenity is unique and Wyndchase should monopolize it. So I would suggest management to consider their decisions affecting the complex. Unfortunately now when I leave Wyndchase I will become one of the residents who left feeling taken advantage of and with disgust. To gain a magnitude of how displeased I am, I skipped my lunch break to write this letter. I will not refer Wyndchase to anyone and will inform as many people as possible about my experiences. I hope whatever affect is caused is taken into consideration in all the properties managed by Steven D. Bell. I rented from spring '06 through spring '08. ...
