RUN!!! DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS, I WOULD!!! Caledon Apartments is the worst place I've ever lived. My husband and I have lived here 3 months and have had a TERRIBLE experience so far. We moved from out of state, so we didn't have a chance to check it out in person. BIG MISTAKE! We trusted the Caledon team to give us an apartment that was move-in-ready and livable. Again, BIG MISTAKE. We signed our lease and took our stuff to our new apartment which we were excited to be at after our long journey. At first glance, we could tell that the apartment hadn't been cleaned properly. It looked like they had been in a hurry to get it ready. As we started looking around, there was dust everywhere, cobwebs on the ceiling, and stained floorboards. We went straight to the front office to let them know, but they basically waved us off and told us they'd get the floor around the counter fixed the next day. But when we thoroughly looked through the apartment, we found rust and layers of dust on the water heater, hvac unit, and filter. There was visible water damage in multiple areas, an old wet dog smell, floor boards that were coming up, counter tops that were coming off because they weren't properly caulked, cabinets that had wood rot, and SO MUCH MORE. The next morning, we talked to the property manager who convinced us to look at a couple of other available units. We should have just left at that moment. But because our moving truck was on its way and we had no where else to go, we accepted another unit - a unit that was supposed to be one of their model apartments that they had just shown to potential investors. We did look through that unit first and it was much better. But yet again, when we thoroughly looked it over, there were countertops that were coming off. But the worst part was the yellow water that was coming out of all the faucets - which can be a health hazard. Did we leave? No, we were stupid and stayed. We let the front office and they promised this would be taken care of immediately. We had plans to visit family in North Carolina, so left for our trip. We ended up staying almost 2 weeks (that wasn't planned). When we came back, nothing that we had complained about was fixed. It took a total of 3 weeks before it was taken care of. Because we had to switch apartments and because we had already forwarded our mailing address, things were all mixed out. We tried to get into our original mailbox, but we couldn't. We asked the front office for help, but it took over 4 times of me going over there and 2 weeks before we were able to get our mail. To add on to this, 7 of my packages that I had ordered were stolen....some from our front door and others from the parcel room. We finally got a Ring doorbell which helped. Things got better after that except for the normal apartment stuff like loud neighbors and people not picking up their dog poop. Last week is when things took the worst turn!! It was the weekend of the winter storm where temperatures were below freezing and there was snow and ice. On 1/11, the power went out along with the heat. We immediately called the emergency line but there was no answer. It wasn't just the heater, it was the stove, internet, the power to all the outlets along the wall where the thermostat was, both bedrooms, hallway, laundry room, parts of the kitchen all lost power. We continued to lose power along with the heat, stove, and hot water from 1/11-1/17. We called, emailed, put in maintenance requests, but aside from two times where they flipped the breaker, nothing was done to resolve the issue. We finally went to the front office 3 times in one day before they came up with a solution. They told us they would order a new breaker and in the meantime, switch ours out with another one from an empty unit. They lied though because that was never done. My husband went to them on 1/17 after losing power to the entire apartment before they finally switched out the breakers. We don't even know if they've ordered a new one. We shouldn't have to beg to be given heat, hot water, and a working stove to cook our food.... ...
