Writing a review for this god'awful place has been on the top of my "to do list" for long now, and I hope it helps other people looking to rent come to an informed decision. I will give you the pros and cons, and then let you guys decide:
1)
CONS
a) The building quality is archaic and it looks like it will fall apart any time. They have air-conditioners that are 20 year old in apartments (kind of new if you realize that the building was constructed in 1951!)that make no difference in the summer humidity and you will need to buy heavy duty fans to cool things around. The elevators are slow as hell, assuming they are working. Heating is free but it barely heats up the room in winters, which means you still need to walk around your apartment wearing a heavy jacket. The paint is peeling everywhere. The hallways are dingy and have a musty odor.
b) Great if you love animals, by which I mean rats. I have lived in two separate buildings over the last year and YOU WILL HAVE THEM IN YOUR KITCHEN. Again goes with the 19th century vibe in the buildings.
c) Great if you love the smell of Indian food, which happens to be EVERYWHERE.
d) All the above won't be so bad if it were not for the incredibly rude management which refuses to lend you a patient ear, or even acknowledge that there are any problems in your apartment. Julie in the leasing office is polite, but the other blonde Jamie is a downright rude bit%#. I have been told that "its just me" when I complained about the AC not cooling the room enough. I have been asked to "keep my windows shut" to warm the room in the winter months. And of course they refuse to believe that rats even exist.
PROS:
a) The price. Probably one of the cheapest apartments around by square footage that you could rent. But then, you get what you pay for.
b) More than ample, free parking.
c) walking distance to Target.
Unless someone has a pressing reason, I do not see why anyone would ever want to live here and not at GreenBriar/Fairmount Terrace/Lincoln Green/Imperial which are newer constructions and not that much more expensive.
I rented from fall 10 through summer 11.
