My family lived in a smaller unit at Tamarac when my son was first born. We eventually out grew the current apartment and asked if there was a larger unit available. We had a repay a security deposit and were given a move in date. My husband and I took 2 days off of work and hired a Uhaul to move our furniture. When went to the leasing office they claimed that they kew nothing about us moving and the unit was not ready. There was no remorse for us wasting our money or our time. When we finally did get our keys we went for our walk through and the unit was completely trashed. There were bugs in the kitchen drawers, the fridge was covered in stickey food from the previous tenent and the apartment had not been painted. (This is seriously just to name a few) There own employee stated that this was completely unexceptable and took us to the leasing office. It was there that their lovely property manager told us that they could have a maintainance man come out and clean but that it probably would not be until the following day. I was not about to take anymore time off of work or rent a third Uhaul so we were forced to SCRUB the apartment ourselves. We moved in got settled and everything seemed to be going ok. Remember we had no say so in what unit that we moved into just that we wanted a larger unit. Tamarac decided that they would put us above an elderly couple. My son is 2 and CAN NOT play in his own home. Every time he plays they are banging on the ceiling for him to be quite. He does not rough house and is not a hand full. He is 25 pounds. My son is now terrified of the noice. They called the maintainance man to come out and hear the noice. We asked them to come in and observe our son while he is playing and see if there was some sort of reasonable solution that we are able to use our apartment that we pay for as well as make the residents down stairs happy as well. According to their maintainace men, our son was not being overly playful and we were not doing anything that would merrit a complaint. They did observe while they were in our apartment, the neighbors harrassment by pounding the ceiling. Needless to say, they have harassed us for the past year. Notes in our door about everything. My husband smokes and they claim that every cigarrette butt that they find outside, they are charging us for. He only smokes on the balconey and there is a large butt container. Can they prove that they are ours? Needless to say... our lease is coming up and we were going to go month to month until we were about to make other housing arrangments. We recieved a note in out door stating that we have 45 days to exit the property and that they will not be renewing our lease. In a panic that we had not where else to go, I called the leasing office and they claimed that they do not have to give you a reason, that they can just tell you to leave. I now have a family with a 2 year old son that I do not know where we are going to live in 45 days. I feel that Tamarac ABSOLUTELY discriminates against families with small children. I am warning you... if you have children... do not live here... your life will be hell I rented from spring '06 through summer '08. ...
