We are currently renting here, our lease is up in September and we are looking to move. The price for rent is deceptive, because you also have to pay Heartland group for trash and "community electric" which is supposed to be the outdoor flood & safety lighting. This bill is almost $100/month. The lights in the entire wing of buildings where we are haven't worked in the ENTIRE near-year we've lived here...so it's almost $100 for trash because you don't even get to use the "communal lighting." Next in my complaint list is the air circulation is shared: my allergy-ridden family lives next to a set of chain smokers (who are nice people, but I don't want to smell them) and the smell of nasty old cigarette smoke constantly fills our apartment. Hello red, itchy eyes and stuffy nose. I will say parking is pretty good, and we've not had car security problems. You are paying for location here: the Sawmill/Bethel area is close to everything. But as a result you pay about $600 (not including your scammer Heartland bill) for a 650 SF 2 bedroom. It's seriously small for the price, as I've found checking around, is not very competitive. The grounds are only "ok" and the "fitness" amenity is a joke. The apartments are cheaply turned: white washed counters, cupboards and splatters of white wash on the carpet here & there. Windows are cheap and don't make solid connections, not securely in the casings so you get a draft of cold air in the winter. They had an unsafe stair case earlier this year that had crumbling concrete and instead of fixing it, they boarded up the exit for several months (fire escape hazard?!) so everyone had to go all the way over to the other stairs. Definitely not impressed, but have no super-horror stories either. I rented from fall 10 through summer 11. ...
