Our time here was only for 6 months, and for the most part it was a nice starter apartment. Decent area, decent apartment, slightly outdated but good appliances. The office staff is friendly enough, and for the most part gets things done quickly. Where we found issues was towards the end of the lease. My husband is active military and we didn't quite know when we were moving. We heard we would move in October, we told the apartment complex and even with the military clause we still would have to pay for 30 days after we had told them, which was a bummer but we understood; that date got canceled. We then were finally told we'd be moving in November, it was mid November but we still had to pay 30 days after we told them (even though our lease ended in November). So, that month we had to pay for rent at our new apartment and for Mirabella. I had expected that we'd be paying half of $1200 as nobody told me that amount would change and that was half of the months rent. I went to pay the bill and it was $1200 dollars for the half months rent. I had called and asked if that was a mistake, and they said no. They had moved the month to month to $1900 and the $1200 was what we owed from that total. Now, they had called us in October asking if we wanted to renew, but due to us moving we said no, and we were unsure because of the upcoming and known move. Apparently they put a paper on our door stating our rent would go up to $1900 if we went month to month. Nobody ever mentioned the cost of going month to month, or that it would be in our favor to sign a new lease and cancel as it would be cheaper. They also failed to mention that the lease would jump up for around $1200 to $1900, that's a 58.3% increase. I had been out of work for 2 months due to the expectant move and was unemployed earlier that year due to COVID. We were down to one income. After our move, and being on just one income we realized we couldn't quite afford two rents at two different places. We had asked them if they could work with us, they said there'd be a late fee plus the amount we owed. They stated that there was basically nothing they could do to work with us. I left the apartment in as sparkling a condition as I could, we always paid rent on time, and we were respectful tenants. It's quite unfortunate that they would do this during a pandemic and to go to so much as raising rent by 58%. In my opinion the lack of communication was out of greed, and just wasn't professional. It's also quite unfortunate because I know a lot of people in the military live there as it's a great commute to base. I wouldn't go as far as to say don't rent from them, just be very very cautious and read all the fine lines especially if you're military and could be given orders suddenly and randomly. Leaving a "note" on your tenants door that rent will increase that much is not very professional and neither is not letting them know in a phone call or person to person setting. Super disappointed in Greystar properties. We've also not heard anything about our security deposit and they have our new mailing address. It was unfortunate to leave the apartment with such a sour taste in our mouth. ...
