I rented a 1B1B in the same building instead and this is my experience: I would rate this apartment zero stars if I could! I liver here for one year and it has been the WORST apartment I have seen so far and the WORST experience I have ever had. Please do think twice before you rent this apartment (or any other apartments from the Hamilton company). 1. Cleanness and readiness: When I moved in, the apartment was very dirty. The floor was dusty. Obviously the landlord did not clean the apartment at all. I requested cleaning but there was no response so I had to do it on my own. The apartment is very old and multiple things had been broken for whatever long time. The shaders of the windows and doors were partially broken, and the lid of the toilet was detached. Also, the floor is not even level - you can see the curvature and slope by eye! 2. Management: the Hamilton company is the WORST company I have every seen! When I signed the lease online, they first sent me an outdated version of the contract and charged me the first and last month rated based on the outdated rate (which is ~$350 lower). Then they realized they made a mistake and charged the rest $700 even without my permission. Also, do not expect maintenance from the Hamilton company! They won't respond to any of your maintenance request. In addition, they are extremely unprofessional and disrespectful to their tenants, and speaks very aggressively and rudely. I believe I am not the only person feeling so - just read the google review page of their company (at 39 Brighton Ave). No wonder they can not even get a rating of 2 stars! 3. Amenities: the apartment is unfurnished so there are not so many amenities in it. However, the things they do have - like AC, washing machine, and dryers are all problematic! The AC systems in the apartment has very bad stability and it almost always put you in the binary situation between being either too cold or too hot - do not expect it to stabilize at the setpoint temperature at all! The toilet clogged multiple times and I have to solve the problem by myself. The shower curtain rod (which is held in place by tension) was very loose and dropped almost every several weeks. There is no indoor washing machine or dryer. The washing machines and dryers are in a wet and dark basement, and the stairs down to it are narrow and slippery. I almost tripped over there for multiple times. Also, that basement was disgustingly dirty and sometimes even smelly. 4. Community and environments: many college students lives nearby and they hold overnight parties all the weekends (as well as on some weekdays)! In addition to these parties, every morning I was woken up by noises from trash removal or even from airplanes. The apartment is old, so please be prepared for those endless noises. Also, there is no pest control so you can see rats (and/or mice?) outside your apartment everyday! Inside your apartment is not even better since there are cockroaches exceeding one inch long. 5. Privacy: if you care about your privacy, this place will be a hell to you! The windows are extreme large and low, along with the fact that the shaders are partially broken and get no repairing, people can even see what you are doing inside your room from street! In addition, starting from ~ 2 months before I moved out, the landlord scheduled lots of apartments showings which made me very nervous and upset. The brokers just bring some strangers to your apartment even to your bedroom without your permission! This is what I said to those potential tenants: "Just think of how the Hamilton company violated my privacy now, the same thing will happen to you in the future when you are about to move out!" 6. Security deposit: when I moved out, the Hamilton company promised to return my security deposit within 30 days. However, they did not do so (which is against Massachusetts law) until I called them several times and went there to communicate this issue with them in person. Thanks god! I eventually received my security deposit after 6~7 weeks! Thanks for reading and good luck with finding your apartment! ...
