It's a cheap rat-hole. I lived in the same building as a few mentally challenged individuals. Thank goodness their social worker dropped in every once in a while. I didn't mind the random, inappropriate hugs, or the sesame street blaring through the walls at 5am on test day... so long as they didn't mind the late night brew-ha-has ...

So I live in Topeka, KS but this site doesnโ€™t have a place for that state to complain about their neighbors. I'm on the 1st floor because it was the cheapest place available. Thought at first that since it appeared to be a nice, quiet apartment complex that it wouldn't be so bad. Well no. I knew thereโ€™d be noise of some kind, but I swear all I ever hear anymore is my upstairs neighbors stomping from one side of their apartment to the other. I never confront them, I pay rent and shouldn't be the one that has to control the people in the complex, but I have called noise control. Last night I called for the 3rd time and the guy who called back (annoyed that I bothered him) said my only other option was to fill out a noise complaint that Iโ€™d have to sign and then the neighbors would have to sign, and that that would end up with both myself and the neighbors in court. I wonโ€™t do that or call noise control anymore. Guess this made them angrier, thought I hadn't known before last night that the leasing office had sent them a letter about being "courteous" to their neighbors. Obviously they don't know how to read. I mean if it was just once in a while, even for a few minutes every day, I'd be okay. It goes on for hours and at all times of the evening and night. Iโ€™m lucky if I get a combined hour of quiet in a five hour period. I don't think they work, because they never seem to sleep. It sounds like a 500 pound person is up there. Sounds like theyโ€™re moving furniture or dropping bowling balls in certain spots. I'm kicking myself right now for signing a year lease. If I'd signed a six month lease I could leave in three more months instead of nine. Iโ€™ll never again live in an apartment complex and have resigned myself to the fact that at least a few times a month for the remainder of my lease I'll only get a few hours of sleep a night. Whatโ€™s most unfortunate is that this has ruined what I thought would be a great experience of independence. I rented from spring '07 through spring '08. ...
