If you want the ghetto this is the place for you. And trying to get management to follow thru is a waste of time; I don't think they finished high school let alone have the ability to relate with college students.

The manager and some lady upstairs in the club house are more interested in partying with the students than managing the community. I couldn't get anything fixed and I soon learned that if you complained things just got worse for you. They were more
interested in their social life than anything else. They have no business being around college students.

Absolutely awful place to live, even by greedy college housing standards. If you have any choice in the matter, avoid Monticello of 42nd Street at all costs. The landlord and leasing managers are lazy and incompetent, and leave you holding the bill when
they screw up. On top of that, they play favorites to a sickening degree and engage in extremely unprofessional behavior. A domestic dispute between the Assistant Property Manager and his girlfriend, also employed by the leasing office, escalated to the point of a very noisy police intervention.
His girlfriend (I think? Either way, the girl I'm talking about here is a property manager, and I know the previous subject's girlfriend works for the office.) has a legendary reputation for dating men nearly half her age (she is in her early-mid 30s, and her boyfriends' average age is roughly 20) and embroiling them in her melodramatic lifestyle. She abuses her position to obtain their room keys in order to snoop on them, and has a rather nasty mean streak which sometimes turns to violence when she gets drunk. Even when she's not beating up on her most recent boytoy, she is generally psychologically abusive all the time.
Furthermore, the office will do anything within their power to get your money. You will NOT get your deposit back. You will get charged for room cleaning regardless of the condition of your room, despite what their contract might say. They are also rather subversive with notification of utility overages; that $50 late fee on a $3.50 overage is just ever so juicy.
Bottom line, live somewhere else. These people don't deserve their jobs, much less to increase their exorbitant profit margin with yet another tenant to leech dry.

If you want to donate you security deposit to an unworthy cause, rent from Monticello at 42nd Street. You are guaranteed to receive nothing of you deposit back, even if Monticello at 42nd Street should violate Florida Statute in holding it.
