I have lived in Reflections of Boca Del Mar for about 9 months. There is no security in this complex. The leasing office told me that there is one police officer that lives here; I have never seen a police car parked anywhere around. The second week after I moved in two of my tires were slashed, my car was parked right in front of my apartment overnight. I just moved to the USA from Istanbul, Turkey. I did not have any enemies or friends yet. About 3 months after my tires were slashed, my husbands’ car was stolen; it was also parked in front of my apartment overnight. It took the police three weeks to return the car to radio; the windows and us were smashed. The person who stole the car also left boots and other clothing in the back seat. About 7 months after we moved in, someone tried to break into the house through the main door, they broke the lock but were not able to get in because of the rusty handle that eventually broke off. We never had a peephole, there is just a hole in the door that anyone can see through, and many other apartments are like this also. The buildings are very old and run down inside. The electrical wiring in my apartment is messed up; lights and the washing machine turn off by themselves if we walk up the stairs slowly. Some switches and electrical plugs do not function properly. Before we moved in all of the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom were busted up, they are still in that status. There is a termite and ant problem so everything that is made out of wood does not work, last week one of the drawers collapsed and all of my utensils feel through the inside of the drawer onto the pots and pans. There is a hole on the bathroom ceiling and it leaks every time it rains, we place a bucket under it when we can. The faucet and shower handle is disconnected from the wall, it also leaks constantly. The fan in the bedroom makes a very annoying noise, so we cannot use it when we sleep. Contacting the leasing office by phone does not produce any results. My husband and I have gone to the leasing office in person and complained about all of these problems ever since we moved in; we have spoken to them at least 14 times since we moved in. Maintenance men do not speak English; they come into the apartment and do quick facelifts to the problems, but do not actually fix the problems. Nothing has ever been fixed or replaced in this apartment and we believe it never will be. Lots of college students live here, they are very loud and there are constantly having parties. We are willing to pay the penalty and move into another complex by the end of this month. I rented from fall '06 through summer '07. ...
