So Iโ€™ve lived here since the year the building opened and am happy to move out. People run around screaming at night, but management canโ€™t really do anything about it. They will try to help you move to a more quiet apartment if possible, and will try to follow up on any incidents. Security in this place is highly questionable and they admitted that their cameras donโ€™t work-this became evident when package thieves were enjoying our package room. Elevators are constantly having problems and wonโ€™t run. There is very limited free guest parking. The automatic trash chutes havenโ€™t worked for two years. The fire alarm system was constantly having problems and would go off if it wasnโ€™t already being pulled by someone at 2 am. The parking gates are always having problems too. If you want to see more genuine reviews, just look up "Alloy" on UMD's sub-Reddit (https://bit.ly/3A8jHOF). Residents are unhappy, always have some sort of building/management issues, and expect crazy rent increases. They pressure you very hard to release early, or else theyโ€™ll give you an even higher rent increase of 10% or more. They charge an arm and a leg for "fancy living," but donโ€™t expect much. Working adults and professionals should still stay away if they want to get any sleep at night. ...

Living at the Alloy was great. I loved the amenities (pool, study rooms, recreational room, gym, courtyard, etc.) but there were some problems that made living in the Alloy difficult. The elevators would be broken too often so I would often have to make my climb to the 5th floor. Also, when I needed maintenance for my bathroom, the maintenance crew did not respond for 2 weeks and my bathroom was useless until I ended up fixing it myself. Finally, when I moved out of my apartment, we were charged for not returning our keys when in fact we all returned it to the front office. Besides that, the place was great. A very nice, modern, quiet place to live and study. ...

The Alloy is a really clean, nice, and fun place to live. There are a lot of amenities like the pool, gym, and lounge areas. The pool is really nice and they have COVID protocols in place. The complex is always clean and the staff is really nice. However, it is a little expensive. ...
