Why do I hate Sharon Green apartments, let me count the ways: Apartment Issues β€’ After deciding to rent, we noticed that our shower head was set up for people 4ft tall and were promised they'd have it fixed before we moved in. They did not and it took 2 weeks after to have it completed. β€’ Our dishwasher was completely broken upon moving in and it took 1.5 weeks to have it replaced. β€’ Our apartment smelled awful, like something had died in the vent or it was stricken with mould. We asked them to fix it and it took one month and several requests to have it accomplished. They first put in gravel and then eventually had to pour cement in the old air intake. I asked them to put in anti-mould treatment and they never did. We still get sore throats whenever we run the heat and the smell never completely went away. β€’ There is a grate on the door to our building that looks like it was kicked in during a fit of frustration and it has been broken for three weeks. We've even seen a maintenance Lady look at it casually and then walk away and do nothing. This piece would cost about $2 at a hardware store and take ten minutes to replace. Sound β€’ The apartment configurations are ill thought out. Each bedroom is beside the living room of the apartment next to it, so any sound you make will travel to the sleeping area of the other residents. β€’ We had two 'noise complaint' notices from the complex by the lady next door within the first two weeks because we had no furniture and the sound from our computer speakers echoed to her bedroom. After a month they had to move her bed to the opposite wall. β€’ The walls are super thin and the vent system acts like an amplifier throughout the upper levels. β€’ I have a logitech computer speaker system with a very small sub woofer. I have it surrounded with sound foam so as to not disturb the lady next door. With the sub turned to it's lowest point (we can't even hear it in the apartment - but you can't unplug it and have the speakers work) we have been getting noise complaints from the "lovely" couple who live above us at 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and 8pm on a Wednesday evening claiming that "it sounds like someone is playing a bass drum in the upstairs hallway". β€’ As such, we can not watch movies/shows even at low volumes and are terrified to have a dinner party. Grounds Management β€’ Having lived at Sharon Green since February 27th (now April 24th), we *still* do not have our own parking spot. At first we were given someone else's parking spot and had to exchange wind shield notes with someone we assumed was parking in our spot. In their note, they explained the same thing happened to them at first. β€’ We brought up the issue with the Girl grounds manager who told us that she could/would not do anything until we got the license plate of the car in our spot even though the prices are incredibly high ($2230 for a one bedroom). β€’ We then approached the Guy grounds manager and he said he would look into this immediately. We just went and talked to the Girl again at the beginning of the week having not heard back from the Guy at all. She said we could use a temporary spot while she looked into it, but we have still not heard from her either, four days later. β€’ We were only given one mail key initially and the request for another one took two weeks to manifest. The first time we used the key it broke off in the lock of the mailbox and we have to get needle-nose pliers to fix it. β€’ We asked for a new key from the Girl manager and were told they'd put it on our door. We heard nothing for two weeks and had to re-request it from the Girl and it eventually was put in our mailbox. β€’ Every time we've asked for help they tell us to use the online request service. They kept on telling us this even though we mentioned to them that we did not have internet set up. The customer service is abysmal at best. Amenities β€’ The gym, while open 24 hours, only has one machine in it that I've seen people use and it's the only one I want to use - the elliptical trainer. β€’ There is no sign up sheet and the residents do not follow gym etiquette such as keeping the television at low volume or wiping down the machines after use. I had to ask an incredibly sweaty gentleman to wipe down the trainer after he was done and he acted annoyed and dismissive. β€’ There are however, three treadmills that no one uses and one is never even plugged in. β€’ There are two pools that I've never used and a sauna I am scared to use after seeing the poor hygiene in the gym. β€’ The laundry is pretty nice though, but not super clean and the machines use Smart Cards, which is handy. Mind you there is only one cash reloader for the laundry cards and it's located in the gym, which is not close to any of the laundry rooms. I rented from spring '08 through summer '08. ...
