Hi new resident, This apartment is extremely expensive for the kind of quality it exhibits. They charge you a minimum of $1300 per month rent. The electricity, garbage, water and utilties are again a seperate charge or around $150 per month - since the heaters are old and even PG&E suggested a change in the heaters to the apartment. That's not all - if there is any maintainance work to be done - it takes months by the apartment office. There are leakeages in the bathroom, moss collects in the bedrooms, the verandah always has a door which doesn't close properly. Its unsafe and dangerous for kids. No Security at all - the apartment is open and not a gated property. Anyone can walk in and the parked cars are towed away. Parking - there is only 1 parking for 1 family so if you bring a guest - be sure to pay $350 for towing everytime. I stayed at the apartment for 6 months and paid the towing company 3 times already. The towing company is in league with the apartment rental office and as soon as your vehicle is sighted - a secret 30 minute notice is given - and when you return to your vehicle after 15 minutes its towed away to 15 miles away. The apartment is located in the San Mateo area and gets cold about 5 months in a year. There is no proper insulation in the apartment. Don't bother about amenities - there is a two machine gym and a dirty pool which is not even maintained once a year. There is no play area for kids and the apartment advertises the common city park near by which it claims as its property. All the best, don't bother about 1st 15 days free offer- since you cannot cancel the lease which will be by default 1 year and you will have to pay 2 months rent to break it. Overall poor security, since anyone can walk in but no one can park, poor quality of residence - since the apartment is not well insulated from the cold and there are leakages in the bathroom and the ceiling and moss collects on clothes. There is no 24 hour maintainance . Call after 5pm and there will be a response only next week. If you think this review is a bunch of lies, read the other reviews, I too made the same mistake of falling for the 1st 15 days free at this place when other better apartments have better deals and cleaner living. God Save the people who stay at Scotchollow. Best Regards, Anne. I rented from fall '04 through summer '05. ...
