At the time that we renewed our lease term, they highlighted all the important monetary factors. We were told at that time that we would pay the incremental month-to-month lease if we decide to leave prior to end of lease term. When we decided to leave after several months and gave them 30 days. They told us we need to pay $2,000 penalty. They said it's not in the contract but it is binding upon the tenants as Property management rules and it has full legal authority to impose the fee even ex-contract. Had they been honest, they would have disclosed that penalty prior to us signing the renewal as it is infact the single biggest monetary item in the lease. If they deny the $2,000, ask for something written, because you might change your mind down the road. Another noteworthy fact is they changed utilities company, now our bill is twice as much and we don't have any choice. Our bill was $40 before with ISTA, now they switched to some phony-sounding Control Technologies which started to bill us water in two fee categories (flat fee per occupant and flat fee per square footage), and flat $30 sewer fee, plus admin fee of $5, plus another flat fee that all totaled to $83.00 every month. Control Technologies does not even sounded like a nationwide ISTA or the ubiquituous Waste Management and EDCO. The apartment probably has cuts from this company. There are noticeably more cops around the block doing arrests and door busting than ever before. I guess it's bad luck when you find yourself in a noisy neighborhood. In more than 2 years we've been there, our neighbors were quiet until some few months ago when partying and late night fights started to occur outside. I rented from summer '06 through winter '08. ...

Completely incompetant people. I went to Iraq in from Sep05-Mar06 and I handed them all of my paperwork to get taken off the lease, never completed. Handed them my paperwork when I got back from Iraq, never completed. When creditors called me, Anna Abbalos refused to get my paperwork stating that the records are too difficult to get to because they're stored in a utility closet. I had to go to the regional manager who is a great guy and he went down there and got their crap in order and now I am free and clear of a $4,000 bill. Only took two years. I rented from summer '05 through fall '05. ...
