I was moving to the area from out of town and used an apartment finding service who recommend these apartments due to the close proximity of the apartments to my school. When I initially called the office staff seemed very friendly and helped me to secure an apartment even though i was not able to come to the property in person. They told me about all these great deals they had and that i qualified for them with my credit. So was under the impression that i would get a free month rent and no deposit. I arrived from out of state on April 18th my scheduled move in date. I entered the office ready to sign my lease, I had previously secured all documentation they told me i would need. The entire staff was very disorganized and took them four and a half hours before i actually signed the lease and gave me the keys. Upon first review of lease they tried to charge me for a one bedroom when i had specifically requested a studio. The staff changed the lease and assured me that the apartment i had already purchased insurance for and moved utilities etc was a studio. I was told at this time and after the agent i was dealing with called manager after manager to make sure that I would receive my one month free that the deal was still valid. I chose to get May free since April was almost over, paid my April rent and went on my way. So i thought woohoo no rent till June. I get to the apartment open the door and surprise its a one bedroom. Since my lease stated the price for the studio and this apartment number i contacted a lawyer who told me it was their mistake and to stay put. May 2nd- I receive a knock on my door from a security guard Serving me an eviction notice telling me I had not paid my May rent. Great i should have known this would happen due to the disorganization of the office. I go to the office where the manager is extremely rude telling me they have been calling and leaving messages, none of which i received. They admit their mistake about the one bedroom and tell me that it was their mistake due to a new company who had purchased the property. When i mention about my free month the manager tells me they never had a deal like that for my lease term and doesn't have any of the paperwork with that information. Usually keeping these documents I tell her i think i have a copy back in my apt. Unfortunately, I cannot find this document anywhere probably wasn't even given a copy of it and conveniently they have no copy either. When I arrive back at the office i tell the manager i don't have a copy but i would like the person i talked with to come to the office and verify the situation for me, the person comes and makes excuse after excuse how she was only a temp when i moved in and etc. Long story short NO FREE MONTH. If you do decide to move here i suggest making sure you get everything they tell you in writing and with their extreme lack of organization get written receipts for any money you give them. Very disappointing the way they have treated me i will not renew my lease here or move to any of there other properties. Be Warned I rented from spring 11 through summer 11. ...
