During my time at Village at Lakeside, they changed ownership. It was pretty bad when it was owned by Winn Corporation and now that it is owned by Mulberry Group it is really bad. To being with it seemed like things were going to be great because the began working on the roofs and clearing overpopulated trees near the lakes. We were really happy with the changes, but soon after they began to clear ALL the trees around the buildings. It was great to be able to come to the apt and see the trees and feel like you were separate from the city atmosphere. Now the area just looks bare, it does not look clean and neat as it did when SOME of the trees were cleared around the lakes. The people who work on site are really great. They have great attitudes, but when it comes to helping residents with a problem they do not take an active stance. The Mulberry Group is very uneasy to contact, making it difficult to have problems addressed. Also, I must note that the choice of outside contractors must be based on price alone because the contractors who were selected to paint the outside of the apts were VERY unprofessional. When they were painting, there was a lot of disregard for the belongings of residence, especially items located on the porches. Personally, I lost plants and flowers because they were painted on, had damage to decorative lights and other decorations. I have friends that live in the apt behind mine and they lost almost $200 worth of plants. All of this was because of the carelessness of the contractors, which I have to note under Alabama law the owners of the apt complex are reliable for. In this instance, and those following where outside contractors were used, no one in the entire complex was given any kind of forewarning so that we could have attempted to move our plants and other belongings outside. When I spoke with the apt mgr the only thing they told me is that the paint would not kill my plants and that they would talk to the contractors. This really left me with no other options when they were in fact liable to my damages. I was in this position because it was not viable to file a lawsuit even though I would have liked to. When it comes to noise, good luck. You either have neighbors who are respectful or you are unable to do nothing about the noise because the apt mgr will not do anything and when you call the police it takes a while for them to arrive, which ultimately leads to the person turning down the music or other noise and then turning it back up once the police leave. I have called the police 3 times about one neighbor and made several complaints to the mgr with nothing happening. Parking is also a disaster. The way it is set up, if anyone has other people over, which you can ascertain happening with a certain neighbor mentioned above, you have to park far away and walk to your apt. It would be to easy and to accomidating to have at LEAST one assigned parking spot per apt as there were many many times that I had to park a distance from my apt. As you can tell from my experience and some experiences of neighbors, the Village at Lakeside is not at all what it may seem. I rented from summer '06 through winter '08. ...
