Toxic Mold, Rude Staff, Zero Accountability β€” Legends at River Oaks is a Health Hazard If you're considering renting at Legends at River Oaks in Sandy, Utah, stop right now. I lived in Unit #333 from October 2023 to June 2024, and it was hands down the worst rental experience of my life. Several months after moving in, I started feeling sick β€” sinus pressure, headaches, sneezing, blurry vision, congestion. I don't have allergies and had no prior health issues, so I knew something was wrong. Turns out, I was living with toxic mold that management already knew about from MULTIPLE other tenants. One day I moved a TV and found a grotesque mold colony climbing the wall and seeping into the carpet. The drywall was wet, warped, and blackened. Maintenance admitted there had been a known water heater leak in the same exact spot in the past β€” and all they did was replace the wall. No real fix. Just a cover-up. Their β€œsolution”? Place a giant fan in the room and tell me to β€œstay out” while it ran β€” essentially blowing mold spores all over the apartment and through the vents. I asked for professional remediation. I asked for mold testing. I asked for basic human decency. What I got instead was silence, hostility, and outright refusal. Weidner Property Management, who oversees the property, told me I’d have to pay out of pocket for any testing β€” despite their own people admitting the leak caused the damage. So I paid. The mold lab results came back positive for Chaetomium, Aspergillus, and Hyphal Fragments β€” all of which are highly toxic to humans. Chaetomium is actually deadly. Look it up. I gave them the results. Nothing was done. The carpet stayed wet. The air stayed contaminated. I stayed sick. And then there’s Natalie Edwards, the leasing agent I dealt with. Rude, dismissive, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. Her attitude was as rough as her tattoos β€” and that’s saying something. She refused to acknowledge anything, refused to acknowledge my complaints via email (likely to avoid recognizing it for legal reasons), and acted like I was the problem for wanting a safe place to live. When I moved out, they charged me for broken blinds. But not a word about the soaked, mold-infested carpet or the toxic wall they never fixed. Legends at River Oaks and Weidner Property Management failed on every level: legal, ethical, and human. They violated what I believe to be multiple sections of Utah’s Fit Premises Act (Utah Code Β§ 57-22-4), which requires landlords to maintain livable and safe conditions. And I’m not alone. The BBB has over 150 complaints about this complex, with dozens mentioning mold and similar management behavior. If you care about your health, your safety, or your basic dignity as a tenant, stay far away from Legends at River Oaks. The landscaping is the only thing they maintain. Everything else β€” especially what happens inside the units β€” is a ticking health bomb. ...
