The landlord is a seriously unpleasant person. She is also dishonest, and if you ever try to communicate with her about any of her shady practices in a kind, just-trying-to-learn-why way, she'll bite your head off. At first I thought it was just because she wasn't nice and was socially awkward, eventually realized it's because she's hiding a ton of dishonest practices. Charges you for things without telling you, ridiculously high rent for a crappy little apartment with no air conditioning and terrible laundry facilities (I didn't know any better about price because I was new to the area), and just an all around unpleasant experience. She made me do my own repairs for things that are clearly a landlord's job. I rented from summer '09 through spring 11. ...

Left house in better condition when we left, charged us $1000 for 'repairs'. Never told us what it was for, just charged us. Landlord was consistently rude to use over the course of our 2 years in the house, would not reply to our contacts often and responded rudely when she did. She towed our neighbors the first day we were there, causing them to dislike because they thought it was us. She told us we could move in early, but charged $400 for staying 2 days early. Charged us for a cleaning fee even though the house was very dirty when we moved in. Another $500 for paying rent, which is our fault but the rent was 1 or 2 days late, and we informed her, and she never let us know a fee was assessed. Really, save yourself the trouble and do not rent with this landlord. I rented from fall 10 through summer 11. ...

landlord from hell. Does not know how to communicate, is dishonest and we did not get any of security deposit back in fact had to pay a ridiculous amount of money for things we did not do. Do not rent from them and make sure that you always get a receipt for your rent. They withheld a large portion of my security deposit alleging late rent even though I was never notified at the time. We lived in properties for 2 years and had an AWFUL experience. Unfortunately by the time we started to realize what a bad home it was, we had already signed for the next year. Come each winter we were faced with mice, $550/month heating bills with the temp at 64, and a very icy parking lot. Maintenance was average, although you can tell no money has been invested in the property for a long time. Property upkeep was very poor. Landlord was very difficult to communicate with, often not responding to emails. Often we would come home and find the maintenance man in there unannounced. We had a great experience with this company/landlord. We renewed the lease twice because we were so pleased with the service we received. The few times we had maintenance requests, they were dealt with promptly. We got all of our security deposit back (except for the last utility bill which we didn't pay ourselves). Landlord was awful. Very shady practices, charges you fees for work they never did (like cleaning the apartment before you move in). Upkeep of the apartments and grounds is horrible. They've been cited numerous times for violations like letting the grass grow out of control in the lawn or having trash strewn around the apartments. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. ...

This landlord is GREAT! Any time there was a problem, it was taken care of the same day. I never had to ask twice. Even things other landlords charge for (like clogged toilets), they took care of right away and without charge. They always notified us if they were coming, and never walked in without notice. This landlord is AWFUL. DO NOT rent from Tree City Properties. The apartment is nice but we did not get a cent of our security deposit back for terrible reasons. They charged us for LIGHT BULBS! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.
