Starting with the view – this home does just that. Its rolling lawn sits on the edge of Thomas Bay and overlooks the tide water as it comes and goes. With 300’ of ocean frontage, you will have the opportunity to spot many local birds of Downeast – puffins, loons, gulls and herons. Or perhaps you’ll experience the sighting of our nations symbol - the Bald Eagle – right here in Maine! Relax on the hammock and listen to the calls of nature, curl up with a good book or take a nap as you sway in the soft breezes rolling off the bay.
Inside the home your will find a clean relaxing environment complete with everything you need in a home away from home. The main house offers plenty of space with 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. The Master bedroom offers a king bed, ensuite bath and private deck overlooking the ocean. Sip coffee from the deck and watch the early morning sea mist as it breaks away for the start of a beautiful Maine summer day. You will also find 3 more bedrooms located on the second floor.
The main floor is home to a kitchen, dining room, breakfast nook, family room and bathroom. For even more space, there is an additional in-law apartment to the home with a private entrance. *** this is closed for Winter Caretaker ** Nov 1 to March 31** Winter is main house only ** This adds another bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and living room to the already 2000sq’ main house.
As if that’s not enough, add a large custom built deck, a fully screened in sun room both of which face the Bay, a 2 car garage, large rolling lawn and not to mention tons of privacy - it makes this property spacious and accommodating.
The kitchen is fully stocked with a double wall oven, dishwasher and large cook top with grill plus 4 burners. If outdoor cooking is more preferred, simply utilize the outside grill while taking in the fresh Maine air. In the family room you will find an inviting space to relax, read a good book or challenge another to an intricate game of chess.
Whether you have come to relax or explore, Frenchman’s Bay Retreat is ideally located on Mount Desert Island near Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor. The activities, shopping and dining options are endless. From early spring to late fall Bar Harbor is the Maine’s prime vacation destination.
