I have lived in my apartment here for a few months – these are brand new apartments, and just started leasing in summer 2009. There are several issues that my family and I have with this community and because management will either not resolve them or they cannot be resolved we will not renew our lease. My first complaint is about the parking. It is first come, first served and there are not nearly enough spots. The community is only at about 70% occupied so this will only get worse when more people move in. I brought this up to management and while they acknowledge the parking can be a problem, they do not intend to reform this with any type of decal parking or assigned parking spots. At the very least there should be designated visitor parking further away with decals for residents, as is the norm for most apartment communities. Something really needs to be done about the parking, especially given the rent they charge. My next problem with this community is the noise. There is very little soundproofing, and we can hear neighbor's music (we live on the second floor) next to us, above us and underneath us. If someone is talking in the apartments above and below us, we can even hear that if our apartment is quiet. Our entire living room floor vibrates whenever the downstairs neighbor plays his stereo, and it's not even that loud. You can also hear everything going on outside the building. I understand this is apartment living, and being in the military we have lived in numerous apartments throughout the years, but this one (by far) is the worst for parking and noise. Unfortunately, even if management wanted to do something about the noise they wouldn't be able to. The maintenance staff is nice, but I do not trust them. There have been several burglaries here (on second and third floors mind you with no forced entry), meaning that since only maintenance has all of the keys, they have something to do with it. Juveniles also come to the complex from across the street and break into vehicles in the community looking for stereos, GPS systems and other valuables. From what I understand this used to be a nice area but crime is definitely on the rise here. There are problems with the wiring in our apartment, so I'm sure we're not alone. Whenever we use the vacuum the circuit breaker trips. The community looks decent, but it isn't anything special. Maintenance typically keeps trash picked up on the grounds and in the parking lot. The staff is either great or awful, really no in between. Either they are rude and unhelpful or really nice and really helpful. Overall, this community is not worth the price. I wish someone had told us about these problems before we moved in, so I thought I would try to save as many people as possible. Your best bet is to look elsewhere, as there are a lot of other nice communities in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. ...
