I've lived in Wellingham Apartments for two years, which is located a couple miles away from ECU. The apartments themselves are older - probably built in the mid-80s or early-90s, but have been well taken care of. There's a surprising amount of available storage in my 1st story one-bedroom, including a large outdoor patio (though, alas, no covered outside storage). The appliances are newer, although fairly cheap. Each apartment comes with an available washer/dryer connection, and the rooms are large and well laid-out for a one-bedroom. I've only experienced two downsides to these apartments. The first is that these apartments have thin walls and floors - it's a common occurrence to hear my neighbors through the walls or floors. As most of my neighbors are quiet people, this is usually not a problem; but if you end up with exuberant neighbors, expect to hear them pretty clearly. The second - and this one is probably a fairly unique complaint - is that there's no outdoor water supply. I love to garden, so not having that water supply is a bit of a frustration. The upside to living here is the property management. I've been a renter for 15 years, and I have to say that Wainright is far and away the most competent and friendly management company I've ever leased from. The office staff is great to deal with, maintenance comes promptly to attend to problems, and they were enormously helpful with helping me stay in my apartment when I experienced financial difficulties. They have an excellent reputation, and after living in one of their properties, it's easy to see why. I can't recommend Wainright Properties highly enough, and wish that all leasing companies held themselves to the excellent standards that Wainright does. I rented from winter 10 through fall 11. ...
