Pros: (1) location in Loring Park is fabulous!, (2) the price is pretty decent for the size of the apartments, (3) I had an incredible view of downtown, (4) the rooftop patio was really nice. Cons: (1) NOISE, you will hear everything from your neighbor's apartment including having to listen to people use the bathroom, (2) the heat was not turned on until someone called the city to report the landlord, the heat was off most weekends during the winter with a note on the office door saying that it was being "worked on," which is hardly a consolation when your apartment is only 50 degrees, (3) parking, street parking is virtually non-existent, the lot the building offers is expensive and difficult to navigate (and I have a compact car, so I don't know how people with larger vehicles got in and out!, (4) package delivery, the person in the office accepts packages for you, however, since you never know when the person will be back in the office you may have to try for weeks to get your delivered item from them, I had to call the management company at one point because I have a prescription medication delivered and no one had been in the office for 10 days since accepting the package!, (5) tricky lease/ move-out charges, I thought I read the lease carefully, but I guess I missed something. The management company will charge out a $200 administrative fee for moving out, no matter what, so on top of the charges they claimed for cleaning my unit (I had left it very clean, not to mention way better than it looked when I moved in), I only got $35 back from my $620 deposit. I tried to fight this, but taking them to court would have ended up costing me more for an only slim chance of getting anything back. This is standard practice from UPI management from other former tenants that I talked to, some of them even ended up getting a bill after they moved out! I rented from summer '05 through summer '06. ...
