So glad I don't live in the 101's anymore! Originally, I wasn't going to write a review, as I had mixed feelings about the place. However, I called to make a complaint to the manager today and it confirmed that she has less managing skills than I previously thought. Details further down. The fire alarms go off more often than the fire alarms on the SJSU campus. Construction all the time, including random construction workers in my patio (what annoyed me the most is that we had no warning that our apartment would be the guinea pig for the construction). Parking garage always smells like a trash can and is usually flooded in some areas. The water is so hard it turns your pots and pans white. The carpet at my work is nicer than the apartment carpet. Walls are thin. The "granite" counter tops are actually plastic that stain very easily. Staff is super nice and friendly, besides the new manager, the reason why I am writing this review. She made it quite clear today that she could give a crap about the new residents leaving our misguided mail (specifically Bank of America and SJSU letters) out in the mail room for anyone to take after we moved, which I feel is highly irresponsible and inconsiderate. I gave her a call and all I asked was that something was done about it in the future, and she saw no problem and no need to take any sort of action. Basically said that it was my responsibility that my mail is forwarded (yes, I agree, but I can't help that I have updated my new address twice with BofA) and that there is a policy about it (not posted in the mail room) and that residents are made aware (I don't ever remember reading that policy- and I read my rent agreement word for word) that they should turn in old resident mail. She didn't even simply offer empathy or an apology, which is the least I expected. Instead, went directly on the defense. Sure, the convenience is living right in the center of downtown, which is awesome. But the negatives far out-weighed the positives. Take your money elsewhere, you're only paying for the downtown convenience. I rented from spring 10 through spring 11. ...
