Get renter's insurance and do a thorough inspection when you move in. The AC units are either undersized or ancient, same with the Heating units. The windows are not sealed and neither are the doors (from both air or thieves). The walls are all cracked but that won't show up for a few months because they paint over it. We've had 6 calls about our fridge and it still malfunctions. The staff is very nice but as you can guess they don't live here.

I rented from summer '05 through summer '07.

Pros: Cheap, lots of parking, decent staff, excellent ammenities.

Cons: Theft, far away from any social centers, robberies, some of the buildings are crumbling into the lake, break-ins, horrible insulation/ HVAC

Bottom line: Line up some DD's cause after the local criminals steal your ride and your TV, and your appartment is freezing cold or boiling hot, you'll probably need a stiff drink.
