two major problems:
1. rent raise around at least 10% every year
2. The staff, or say the community manager specifically, has bad attitude when you have problems that needs her help.
I rented from summer 10 through winter 11.

The grounds are beautiful and if you talk directly to the property manager and make him listen, they will work with you. We were reimbursed for every towed car we had, however, this was mainly because it was their fault! Parking is horrible and they are
few guest parking spots. You can get visitor parking passes, but they are only for 24 hours and is on a first come first serve basis. This is a good apartment complex if you don't mind walking at night to your apartment or do not have many guests.

A previous poster wondered what the problem was, that s/he had a lovely, spacious apartment, blah blah. That is entirely true. The grounds were nice, the apartments WONDERFUL. Management sucked. I defy anyone to say otherwise. They do not communicate
with clients about a gated community never having an operating gate, among lots of other things. I had a guy live above us catch his deck on fire and it took us 4 calls for them to even address it! When we moved out, we moved overseas and they knew it. It took us 2 months and dozens of international calls to the rental office and corporate office to get a final bill!!!! There were 2 stains on the carpet that cost us $300 after they said everything looked great. Because my security clearance also depends on a credit check, I was hostage not to fight month after month. I racked up a ton of bills on calls and a 12 hour time difference means waiting until midnight or later to even get through. Thats by luck, I assure you. They always let the "machine" get it and never returns calls. Even when they're local/free. Management allowed people to go into our apartment when we had a "stop key" in our file. That means NOBODY enters without us. We agreed upon a date to do the pre-inspection walk thru and they came a week early. Thank goodness my large dog was at daycamp that day or they would have a chunk out of their rumps! Maybe that would educate staff from entering unannounced. The rules are 24 hours notice, not surprise impromptu "visits" with the tenants at work! They found no problem with this whatsoever.
Oh, insult to injury upon departure, if you don't peel your parking sticker off the car window, thats $200 each! A scraped off, filthy sticker! Like parking in Fairfax is so precious that I'd sell their stupid sticker so some chump can park there and walk 3 blocks to Government Center. Please. Considering my car shipped overseas, I was S.O.L.
I rented from summer '05 through summer '07.

All I can say is document, document, document. Overall, management is disorganized, disrespecful, and dishonest. If you choose to live here get EVERYTHING in writing.
I rented from spring '04 through spring '07.
