I lost $400 not even moving in Island Drive apartments. When I was signing prelease agreement, I asked a girl in their office (her name is Kelly, she refused to tell her last name) about their policy on the deposits. She said it was refundable in case I decide not to sign the lease. My bad that I didn't double check her words (I didn't have any reason not to trust her) in the written terms. Surprise - their policy was completely different, and the deposit was not refundable. I found it out when for different reasons decided not to sign the lease. So, they either lied on purpose or were not aware of their own policy. Their manager, Jill Mitchell, obviously knew that it was their fault (all her subsequent behaviour showed that), but she was very aggressive in defending themselves and putting all the blame on me. They definitely do not care about people, only about the money. I still need to find time to seek some legal advice, but my advice to everybody who is considering Island Drive - go there if you don't know where to waste extra $400. ...

Managed by a very incompetant staff of bitches. High turnover means that you must get every promise in writing. Numerous fees are hidden in their lease and "policies". You cannot pay your rent at the office because the onsite people cannot be trusted with money. Be prepared for late fees even if you are not late. Parking is terrible. They will tow you if your permit is covered by snow!! (They make a percentage off towing). The tenants are mainly foreign students with poor parking skills so if you own a nice car find alternate parking. No on site after hours maintenance and the emergency number is an answering machine. I found out the hard way after I had an electrical problem and had top go the entire weekend without power. I rented from fall '06 through spring '07. ...
