These things have so many problems because of quick & crappy construction. We have had numerous problems and many of them were not taken care of in a timely manner, if at all. We had a problem with our heating system and it wasn't going to get fixed so we just heated the place with the fireplace. When they came around at the beginning of the 07 winter to winterize the doors, we had a problem with a huge gap under our front door. So the "maintenance men" the owner hired, who worked out of the back of an old late 70s model piece of junk car, were told to replace the threshold board. They took a 2x4 and scored it with a hand saw, then broke it with a chisel. Then when the board still wouldn't fit into the spot he went and got a power saw and trimmed the edges of the board and hammered it into place. After that our door never closed with out a kick and they never came to fix it. The "winterizing" they did was the crappiest job I've ever seen and they were told to do the entire complex in one day, that's 64 units in 1 day. I ended up doing most of the maintenance myself because I would fix it correctly and I never knew when & if they would come to fix it. There are shrubs in front of each unit under the living room window. They are never trimmed and grow well above the bottom of the window. I started trimming them myself in the spring but it got to where it needed to be done everyday and I refused to do it. We are the first unit when you pull into the parking lot by the office and if he doesn't want his place looking like crap then he needs to have the lawn crew, that would only come once a month by the way, trim the bushes as well. We have two toddlers and they love to play outside but since our unit faces a busy street, well that was impossible. One thing they did love to do was sidewalk chalk. One day the owner walked by our place and decided to wash all our kids chalk off of our steps and the sidewalk. While he was washing off the chalk he heard my sister-in-law bouncing a ball. He then proceeded to yell in our window, instead of taking 2 steps and knocking on our door to ask what to noise was. So my wife had her first encounter with him telling him to not look in our windows and knock on our door if he had something to say. He then proceeded to say that he owns this place and he could do whatever he wanted. So once he walked off we let the kids go right back out there and color it back on and he came up and confronted my wife telling her that we couldn't graffiti on the sidewalk. They argued back and forth and he told us that it was ok if we put chalk on our front step but no where else because he wants to keep this place "looking nice". What a joke! Then as he walked off he proceeded to call my wife a dummy. He is lucky I wasn't home b/c he would have been prying my foot from his butt after that. The biggest issue is that we are having to break our lease to move to another state b/c of my health situation (I have cancer) and we wanted to work with them to try and get out of our lease clean and free. He is being a complete Prick about the situation and is trying to stick us with extra months rent. According to the lease he has the right but you think someone would have the decency to work with us. We wanted to go through the normal check out process and even forfeit our $400 security deposit but he still wants to stick us with the extra rent. SO, it is now my goal to spread as much bad press about this place as possible. Please do not rent from this guy, you will regret living here, I promise. But, if you like renting from and living near a Peeping Tom that doesn't hire people who can speak English clearly and has no compassion, then by all means rent from this PRICK! I rented from winter '07 through fall '08. ...
