DO NOT LIVE HERE! I am finishing out my year here and it has been hell! I would have rather lived in the dorms, and that says A LOT! It started off with signing my lease. The guy that read me and my friend our leases rushed through it as quickly as possible and avoided telling us we had to pay a heat bill here. We had been put under the impression that it was all electric! We didn't realize we needed to call the heat company until it was about 30 degrees outside and our heat was not turning on. I think they are trained to take advantage of naive college kids and make the benefits sound like they outweigh the negative. We asked around the community and a lot of other people had been fooled as well. On top of this, they didn't clean our apartment the way it should have been before we moved in. All of their maintenance people are college students who don't give a crap. Everytime we ask for help for anything, they are rude. Anytime we even step foot in the office they stare and give us hateful looks. All they ever do up there is play solitaire and flirt with one another. They could care less about your needs! They are supposed to notify you when a package comes in for you. They have failed to do this for my roommate THREE times now and one of the packages has been sent back to the post office before bc she didn't even know it was in. Also, they stick you with random people in your apartment if you don't have enough people to fill it up. This is not an option, it is a REQUIREMENT. So you might as well live in the dorms. We got stuck with someone who kept us up all the time with their drinking. We had been told that if we had a single problem with a roommate to contact them and they would take care of it. So when we did this, they seemed like they were going to be helpful. (This was in October.) The woman told us it would probably take 3-4 weeks to get our roommate moved to another apartment or evicted. Well we ended up having to nag the office people all the time because our stuff was getting stolen by this person and they were NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. It took until early January for our roommate to move out, and even then it was only because they weren't going to go to school here anymore. Therefore, College Park was not doing the job they had promised. The apartments are also set up poorly and have practically NO insulation in the walls. You can hear everything next door and it's always freezing in our apartment. The washer and dryer are out in the kitchen (no separate closet) for everyone to see. The apartments are TINY. College park makes around $1600 (around $400 a mon. per lease, depending on when you signed, mine was cheaper) per four person apartment, when you could live in a house for cheaper. The internet service they go through absolutely sucks. They act like anything that is broken in your apartment is your fault, even if it was broken when you moved in. They tried charging us $75 for fixing a bar in our refrigerator (that just fell off when we opened the door!) when (once again) it took them TWO WEEKS to even come look at it. They took away the charge when my roommate complained. They acted like it was "doing us a favor" when really they knew that charge was bogus in the first place. I HATE WHERE I AM LIVING AND IT WILL BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF YOUR LIFE IF YOU MOVE HERE!
