The staff here, namely Jaclyn, has been the utmost nightmare. While I was out of town my roommates had left some trash they didn't take out over said time. We were given a notice and timeframe to get rid of it or be charges. I got back home, took care of it before the time. They still charged us and said they had the right. Next something popped up and I was looking to sublease my apartment... Jaclyn... just an absolute monster. Raises her voice. Treats you like you're dumb. Doesn't help at all. Just a trash human being. Said she would help us fill the apartment if they filled up the others... then instead of filling up my 3 bedroom, she instead moved me to a 4 bedroom (sending mail about it to my apartment which I dont even live at anymore), and then left me with subleasing instead of helping me fill the apartment they LITERALLY JUST FILLED! This place is a joke. Do not recommend to anymore. ...

My roommate and I arrived on our move in date and the entire place was covered in dust and grime. The fridge and freezer still had several rotten items from the previous tenants; the entire carpet wreaked of pet urine and sour smells. Ironically, they left us a pamphlet on our counter remarking confidently that our place was perfectly ready and prepped for our arrival - ha! All of the furniture in the living room had white stains that even bleach could not remove. We covered the furniture to prevent The Village from deflecting the charges/liability on us for their apparent need for replacement furniture (we work until 7 most days and spend nearly all of our time in our rooms). During our first month we were charged for battery replacements for the fire detectors and they did not even replace them - yikes. Just this month I was charged $535 to replace the (incredibly cheap) furniture that, mind you, we covered initially and never use..... your initial move in inspection is weightless. Every time it snows, our cars have been blockaded in by walls of ice, and the roads and walkways were mostly salted on the day of or even after snowfall.. effective! Every interaction with the employees, specifically management, has been accompanied with a condescending or downright rude attitude. There was a robbery right across from our apartment just this past month and another just a building over - security is necessary especially with this outlier location and the Village offers none. These people want your money and could not care less about your actual experience - do not let the oversold, overvalued amenities fool you. They are clearly used to taking advantage of college students whose parents foot the bill. We even caught them attempting to enter our apartment without notice and with a seriously rude attitude. I rented from summer 2017 through summer 2018. ...

The management was very poor and often tried to sugar coat any problems. The electric bills were sent months after the dates of use. For instance electric bill in January was bill in May,. I rented from fall 2016 through summer 2017.

To tell the entire story would take entirely too long...... But this complex doesn't even deserve one star. I regrettably lived here from Summer '11 to Summer '14. I have no idea why I stayed so long. The management is completely unorganized, irresponsible, forgetful, unmotivated, and doesn't care about the residents what so ever. They are great at pretending they care until there is a problem, or until you want to find someone to sublease. This complex with nickel and dime you to death. They are absolutely impossible to work with, and I have personally been screwed out of nearly $1000.00 by this hell hole. The management never gets anything done, they never return your calls, and they refuse to work with you. The maintenance, however, 10/10. They are wonderful. STORY CONTINUED: It has been a month since I informed The Village that they owed me $610.00. It took them two weeks to SUPPOSEDLY mail me a check. Two weeks later I still don't have a check. They are the most horribly organized and ran business I have EVER dealt with. I rented from summer 10 through summer 11. ...

NO NO NO. Living here has been one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. The apartments are cheap in price, and also in quality. The people who work the front desk mean well, but they are mostly just students themselves, and are not very helpful. EXAMPLE 1: One morning I woke up for class, walked out the door to catch the (extremely inefficient and always packed) shuttle, only to find that I DID NOT HAVE STAIRS LEADING UP TO MY APARTMENT. Apparently, the complex was going through the process of replacing the stairs of every apartment WITHOUT GIVING TENANTS PROPER NOTICE. Since the two flights of stairs leading up to the townhouses are the ONLY means of entrance and exit, this was both an extreme safety hazard and a horribly annoying inconvenience, as I was forced to climb up one ladder and then back down another (with the help of the construction workers) JUST TO LEAVE MY APARTMENT. Of course, this caused me to miss the shuttle, and therefore drive to my class which I was also late for. The next day (when my stairs were fully replaced) I walked out of my apartment to find a note on the door notifying me that the Village would be replacing my stairs that day. I WAS LIVID. I called the front desk and they had no explanation, just an apology. EXAMPLE 2: After you move from the Village, they require you to fill out a mail forwarding form in order to receive mail at your new location. This action expires 6 months after you move, however, at which point you are forced to change your address formally with the US Postal Service. Except when you enter the address to the Village at Muller Park, IT IS NOT REGISTERED AS A RESIDENCE, and therefore you cannot change your address to receive mail without going through the long process of contacting the Village and going through them. I am normally not one to complain or write poor reviews, as I myself am a business student and therefore can relate to certain business decisions, processes, etc... but I found the level of quality of this particular apartment complex to be completely unacceptable and possibly the largest source of frustration and stress during my sophomore year. BE WARNED. I rented from fall 10 through summer 11. ...

I live here currently and I love it! Plan on living her again next year. The price is a little high but with everything you're getting, it's totally worth it! I know living right on campus would be double this price, plus you'd still have to pay for furniture and utilities. The location is a little far off campus, but I drive to the stadium or take the shuttle, which is usually quicker. I've had no problems doing either though. The social aspect here depends on the kind of person you are. If you prefer a quiet environment to study and such, this may not be the place for you. But if you're looking to party and make friends, this is definitely the place! Again, I've never really had a problem with this, but it does get loud sometimes on the weekend. So sometimes you do have to find a parking spot that's not RIGHT in front of your apartment, and you'll have to take a couple extra steps. It's really no big deal though, because at least we don't have to PAY for a parking sticker. Also, my boyfriend comes over every so often and he's never had a problem with guest parking. It's a little busier on the weekends, but he's still always been able to find a spot. As far as maintenance, we've never been charged for anything extra. They were a little slow on replacing our window screens, but they're not too too important. We haven't had a huge problem with that either. I just don't understand some of these negative comments. I really love the Village and look forward to living here again next year. (Rented Fall 2013-Summer 2014) I rented from fall 10 through summer 11. ...

When random roommate matching, you have no choice of who you are living with unless you are the last one signing the contract. You get stuck with people that don't match your roommate preference sheet. I filled out for a non-smoking roommate, NO PETS, clean environment, quiet roommate, no partying, and not a night owl. I got a roommate that is everything opposite from this. Now I am stuck in an apartment with someone I LOATHE!!! The roommate is completely incompetent in how they "take care" of their dog and now our apartment smells like dog pee and poop. They smoke, as do the neighbors, and our apartment also smells like cigarettes and management refuses to do anything about it because it is "their own prerogative to do so" even though smoking in the apartment isn't allowed via the contract. They are constantly trying to party when I want to study and sleep and keep me up all hours of the night and management does nothing other than to send a meaningless letter that has no consequence to it. They tell you they can move you out and place you with a new apartment, but the catch is that it will cost you about $300 extra to do so. They are horrible at working with people and make living there a constant stress. I can't wait to move out of here!!!!!!! Management is worthless and a joke! Lived here Fall '12 to Summer '13 Everything is poor, but the site forces you to make at least one section better than the others. ...

This place is bullshit. Only lived here because parents stuck me here. Maintence is garbage, you put in 10 work orders for important things like a hole in the wall from previous tenants or an ant problem that was promised to be fixed when you moved in. To mold in the closet, and they won't do it. But if you set a trash bag on the porch for 5 minutes that you're taking out while you use the washroom and they write a threatening message saying they'll charge you a fee. The have never fixed one problem in this house that we requested. Absolutely worthless. They promise you a pool, and yet they keep it open for one month. The buildings are absolute garbage. Drafty, it was 40 degrees in my room this past winter. Even had to buy a space heater that could barely keep up with how cold it was in the rooms. The staff are creepy hillbilly townies who creep on all the girls and are always trying to go into their apartments without announcement. They routinely watch women sunbathe and make remarks under their breath. It's an absolute disgusting joke living here. Cannot wait to move out Saturday. I rented from fall 10 through spring 11. ...

If you are a noisy undergraduate student, and are looking for a place to party at, then this is the place for you. However, if you are a grad or professional student DO NOT live here! There are parties going on at all hours of the morning and often people playing basketball and yelling at all hours of the night (I had the misfortune of living in front of the basketball court.) There is a courtesy officer that is there to take care of it, but it's hit or miss if he'll call you back. Our apartment personally, had many maintenance problems also probably because the place is very cheaply made. ...

I would never recommend anyone to live here. It is way too far from campus and downtown Bloomington where everything is at. They promise to have a shuttle take you to campus but I have been turned down many times because they stuff 60 people on a 14 capacity bus (it's probably illegal). $2000 for a 4 bedroom apartment in a horrible location is ridiculous. They try to add fees for everything. For example, if you lose your "access" card to the shuttle, you have to pay a ridiculous fee to get it back. They tell you that you can have pets, which is a $250-$300 deposit but then try to evict the pets for ridiculous reasons and keep the pet fee. They don't allow reptiles or basically any cool animal that wouldn't do damage if you know how to take care of your pets. The staff isn't very friendly. I see some of the front office girls around the property and they don't even look at me or say hello. The only good thing about living here is the gym. ...

Love the place. Staff is great. Only apartment complex I know that salts the sidewalks. Very pet friendly. Getting to campus isn't that difficult. Best place I've lived in my time in Bloomington I rented from fall 11 through fall 11.

My daughter rented at this place. Two years after leaving, they trumped up "charges" which they said she owed and destroyed her credit rating. Since she had graduated at this time and left the state, she has little recourse to take up with them. I highly recommend that you look elsewhere to more ethical landlords. Also, their shuttle did not run as often as they promised and we ended up having to buy her a car to get home from campus. She had big partiers for neighbors. Overall it was a very bad choice. you people are nuts. i love the village. i have lived her for quite sometime, although i am moving home this summer. i have been living here since i have been a student at iu, and i love it. i think people only like to complain vs. expressing what they like about the village. i also was charged for my garbage disposal, but i had broke a glass in it. that was something that was my fault. it is unreal that someone would charge you for something you didn't do. i find that unbelieveable. i would chose to live here again if i could do it all over. i like they staff and they like me to. i pay my rent on time and pay for things i break which is what people should do without complaining. good luck finding something better than here because you wont. people in bloomington charge way too much for rent and do not offer half the things this place does. my advice see it for your self first! This place is an OK place to live but for the money it should be a whole lot better. There is a shuttle to campus every day and on the weekends there is a shuttle to downtown/bars every night which is really awesome and the fitness center is the best of any apartment complex in Bloomington. However, the internet is beyond terrible, pool is really small and closed pretty much the entire time (just there for looks), parking is a joke, maintenance staff is helpful but they charge for anything that breaks even when it is not your fault. For example our garbage disposal quit and they charged us $55 to replace THEIR OWN PROPERTY the landlord is supposed to do the maintenance and upkeep which is why people rent in the first place. The office staff are completely unprofessional and make many mistakes with the rent money I gave them. They tried to charge me double rent one month and I had to show them the receipt, which i always keep luckily, to prove my innocence. Also the buildings are not up to par and cost a fortune to heat in the winter. Do yourself a favor and don't get drawn in by their delusions of grandeur and save some money by going with another complex. I rented from fall 10 through summer 11. ...

I read all the bad reviews before going to the Village at Muller park, and was not sure if i was going to live here. I have been living here for a while now, and I have not yet encourter any issue with my apartment or the staff. I love everything i got in the apartment, because it comes furnished. I think that you should look before judging it off of the ratings. I planning on renewing my lease and staying here until I graduate. This place is terrible they are misleading as hell, they show you one thing and you get another when you move in. They are sneaky and way over priced this place was thrown up in 8 months and you can tell. The property manager doesnt solve anything and the staff changes too often, clearly there is no training when they hire because ony one person comes up with the right answers if shes not there your screwed. I wouldnt get swept up with the looks of the place unless you are desprite keep looking, you tacked with fees that you wouldnt believe, the "insurance" they have you pay for is useless dont let them cheat you out of your money please take it from someone who learned the hard way.
