Vencel Properties loves to play games...it is the only way I can explain why they think they can change a leasing contract in the middle of a leasing year...without your consent! After requiring me to sign up with a water company for my water, they cancelled it on my behalf (they did this for the entire apartment building) and started charging us themselves. They then decided to charge us extremely outrageous bills for the water/sewer. After several of my neighbors and I talked to them about the inaccuracies in our water bills, we were told that we had to prove we weren't using several thousands gallons of water. Now you tell me, how can a person living on her own, who works from 7:30am to 9:00pm five days a week, doesn't have a washer/dryer, and be gone for half of the month on vacation, use over 10,000 gallons of water in one month? After so many complaints, they tried to change the leasing agreement. Instead of calling it a change though, they called it "a clarification." However, we were expected to sign this "clarification," which would leagally change our lease...because of course, there wasn't anything concerning a water bill in our leasing agreement in the first place. In fact, my leasing agreement said that I was to contract my water bill with the water company, not them. But that isnt the only thing they did that was shady. Who can forget the rats running between the walls of different apartments? According to Vencel, this problem is the responsibility of the person living in the apartment. Who's responsibility would that be when they are between the apartments? Don't ask them to fix anything in your apartment that might include a mess...they don't clean up after themselves! In addition, they will wipe their greasy hands on your towels without washing first. How nice of them. After talking to many people around town, including people who used to work for several leasing companies around town, I found out that Vencel Properites has a history of being shady and committing questionable acts. If you want to rent from a leasing properties that won't screw you over, Vencel Properties is NOT the way to go. ...
