My recent letter to upper management. Hello. I feel the need to inform upper and lower management of my displeasure of being a tenant here at Osprey Lake. Please note that the office staff has been most helpful but all in all, I am immensely dissatisfied. I don't even know where to start. Maintenance has been a joke. They don't even plow the parking lot or shovel the sidewalks when there is bad weather. It becomes a safety issue for everyone, also rendering the premises non wheelchair accessible. I don't think anyone here has ever heard of salt! It gets so bad that my truck can't make it up a hill while in 4-wheel drive. I am bewildered at this, since there are plenty of warnings from the news and The Weather Channel regarding impending storms. I also had the pleasure of having the roof leak into my closet, soaking all of my personal belongings. This was due to an extreme thaw. Nevertheless, preventive measures should have been taken to disallow this from effecting the tenants. Have you ever heard of a ice and water shield for a roof? Our elevators are constantly defaulting. They are either out of order or are so messed up, it's quicker to take the stairs. The only reason I wanted to move to this building is because of the elevator. Not to mention, that while I was pregnant this made it EXTREMELY difficult to walk up and down the stairs. Unfortunately, I also happen to inhabit an apartment that is right by the dumpster and am awoken EVERY MORNING, very early, to the loudest sounds I have ever heard. A large steel dumpster being picked up and dropped back down. Over and over and over. The sound echoes throughout the entire community. I had been hoping that my baby wasn't to be born before we move, since I was sincerely looking forward to having a newborn being jarred awake this abruptly. I used to live in Chicago and it was never this loud downtown. Parking is a joke. I have lost my spot to several cars at numerous times that do NOT have the required AMLI sticker. Once, while coming back from the hospital, I could not find ANYWHERE to park (in the entire community) and had to park in the grass. My truck was almost towed. Thank God I have ties to the company that was employed and was able to get my truck released. To top it all off, my husband and I were almost hit by a plow truck today. My husband had been admitted to the hospital for pneumonia recently, and today I was able to bring him home. I parked right by a gentleman plowing the snow and signaled to him that I was going to be walking around the vehicle. As we started to head towards the door, the driver threw it in reverse, and we were almost hit in the chests with the backhoe. This has been the last straw. I do not like complaining as much as I have but for the price of the apartments AS WELL AS the fact that we have to pay ALL of our utilities...well...this is preposterous. I have never been this unhappy with where I have lived. I will be copying and pasting this letter to every single apartment review site, as well as Facebook and MySpace. I do not want anyone else to have to pay over a thousand dollars a month for this treatment. While I am not sure of any other AMLI locations, I do know that Osprey Lake is subpar at best. As I tell everyone who inquires about this location, appearances can be deceiving. Hopefully, someone will take note of this letter and make some positive changes. For if not, I can foresee it becoming a haven for Section 8. Thank you and have a wonderful day. I rented from spring '08 through fall '08. ...
