My wife and I have lived for almost a month, and so far we're fairly happy with Hillside Village. Let's see, where to begin? 1.) Management- Very polite, and very responsive. They have returned all of my phone calls, and have been more than willing to assist us in our move. They even rushed the preparation of our unit so we could move in sooner than we had planned. 2.) Maintenance- Hard working and efficient. We have had a series of mishaps in this short amount of time, but the maintenance staff has worked hard to resolve all of our issues. We're having trouble with our cable TV and internet right now, but that's Comcast's fault. 3.) Look/features (outside) - The view is really nice- at least from our building it is. We have a stunning view of Montesano Mtn., and in the evenings and mornings it is very beautiful. There are nice boulders adorning the landscape, and trees everywhere. Some have white blossoms, and some are pine. I have noticed that there is a little trash here and there, but it isn't too terrible. The look of the buildings is descent, as well. There is a fitness facility (not very nice, but at least there is one), a pool (fairly nice), and a tennis court (cracked, but functional). There are also plenty of sidewalks for taking a stroll. 4.) Look/features (inside) - We really love the layout of our unit. It is around 750 sq. feet, and it shows. There is plenty of storage room, as well. There is a closet in the living room, a linen closet, a huge walk-in closet in the bedroom with shelving all over the walls, and an external storage building attached to our fenced patio (totally awesome!) The door locks on the storage room, but I attached an additional clasping lock for added security since it's on the outside. The appliances are original and look old, but they work. Maintenance informed us that when they go out, they'll replace them, so we aren't worried. Now here's the kicker: washer and dryer connections in all units! You won't find very many complexes that have W/D connections in both one, and two bdr. units. We absolutely love this feature. We've never had our own laundering appliances before, and it is so alleviating to not have to go to the laundromat! What's nice is that there are mirrored folding doors that conceal the washer and dryer. Not only does it keep them out of sight, but it makes the dining room look bigger! 5.) Noise- The noise level is quite minimal. There are occasional vehicles with systems the owners are proud of, and they come blaring through the neighborhood from time to time. There is also residential traffic, which is to be expected. Though, for the most part, it's quiet. I hear birds chirping as I'm typing this, and it is quite relaxing. 6.) Location- Hillside Village is located near the Sparkman Drive and University Drive intersection. It is on top of a mountain, so there's an uphill drive. There are several other complexes located around the area, most of them quite nice. What is absolutely terrific about this complex is its convenient location. It is about a half a mile from UAH, and is close to Calhoun Community College as well. Both my wife and I are students, so this is very nice. It is also quite close to Madison Square Mall, Circuit City, Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, and many other retail and dining establishments. What's nice is that you wouldn't be able to tell that you're in the "city" because Hillside Village is more like a suburb. For $440 a month, we think it's absolutely worth it. I rented from winter '07 through summer '08. ...
